But . . . He Cannot Play by the Rules!
Why does Trump even have Secret Service protection? He doesn’t believe in protection from violence for the rest of us. He believes in the “freedom” to commit political violence! He constantly says so.
He mentions and implicitly threatens political violence constantly. He signals to his supporters that it is okay, and that under certain circumstances he even expects it of them. He sets the stage for it as resourcefully as he can constantly. He seems perversely excited by the thought of violence committed on his behalf.
And he seems to feel personally invulnerable —a feeling I think he’s become accustomed to over the years compliments of an insulating blanket of wealth able to extricate him from any consequences of his lifelong rotten behavior.
If political violence is anathema to our politics, Trump appears incapable of participating in the endeavor in good faith. Incapable!
As we all know, he loves trying to invalidate everyone else irrelevant to the furthering of his own interests; but one could say . . . HE is illegitimate! —illegitimate as a political participant —like a stray dog running onto the field who grabs the football and runs into the endzone.

I'm going to shut up now. Shanti!
In principle, maybe Secret Service protection would be more appropriately appropriated for the targets of HIS threats of violence!
